PWC SERBIA 2017

The second stop of the PWC in Nis, Serbia came to an end on Saturday. OZONE Team pilot, Yassen Savov, reports:

“We had a good week of racing in Nis. First two days saw no one in goal, with the first group waiting for retrieve at random patches of doom and gloom mid-course, looking up scanning the sky for hours, hoping not too many of those cheeky late-comers go too much further, killing the points. Then next two days weather was proper good and lots of us made it to goal, me winning both days at good speed. Finally, the last day wind was close to the limit, but conditions in the air proved good enough to blast to the end of that task as well, with the meet director stopping it only after the first ones made it to goal.
At the end it was French World Cup veteran Stéphane Drouin (Enzo 3) who was smooth and consistent enough to get the overall win, beating me (Enzo 3) by one point, and Arnaud Baumy by a few more. With the women, it was the Japanese who dominated the podium, Atsuko Yamashita (Zeno) and Yuki Sato …read more

Xevi wins the Spanish Nationals

The Spanish Nationals in Pedro Bernardo have come to a close after four tasks. OZONE Team Pilot, Xevi Bonet, took first overall. In his words:

“After three amazing competitions already celebrated this year in Pedro Bernardo, our expectations for the Spanish Nationals were high and the comp filled up quite fast, with a total of 150 pilots.
The first two tasks, 63 and 79km, we flew on the flats avoiding the stability in the mountains. We had many people in goal and not much difference in the final times.
After two days “off” due to instability, we flew the best task of the event: 163k with goal in Penafiel (Valladolid). The beginning was difficult with low cloud base, but as soon as we arrived to La Meseta de Avila the ceiling got higher and the conditions improved. We made it to goal around 5pm with an average speed of 50 km/h, a super day.
There were just two days left with strong wind in the forecast. The first day was canceled but the last day of the comp we managed to finish a complicated 52k task on the flats.

I am pretty happy to win, one more time, the Spanish Championship and, to …read more
