JACK PIMBLETT JOINS THE OZONE TEAM

Jack Pimblett is the youngest acrobatic paraglider pilot in the UK and one of the most progressive performance pilots the UK has produced. He was sucked into the sport from his very first experience aged 3, joining his father on almost every flight after ward before making the switch from passenger to pilot aged 15. Jack’s rapid progression is a result of his obsession with flying and training at every opportunity.

Cheers, from all the Team!

LET’S HELP THE CHILDREN OF NEPAL!

Help keep kids warm and healthy in Nepal this winter! From December 15 – January 15, drop your unneeded winter clothes at the Karmaflights office in Lakeside, Pokhara, Nepal or donate funds for the purchase of clothing, through the link below. We will deliver your clothes to needy kids in mountainous regions in Nepal.

Every winter, hundreds of people in Nepal die from exposure, due to lack of warm clothing and insulation in their homes. Thousands more, suffer tremendously in the cold.

The situation is particularly desperate this year. Many impoverished families have to face their second winter living in temporary shelters; lacking funds to rebuild their homes post-earthquake. Particularly at risk are the very young and very old.

There is something we can all do to help alleviate this suffering. Karmaflights will be collecting clothes in our Pokhara office, to distribute to high-altitude villages, in earthquake effected regions. We will also be accepting donations, to purchase new warm children’s clothing. Your donation of $50 will fully equip a child to stay warm and healthy through the winter to come. Click here to make a fully tax-free donation.

INSPIRED

Our sport has grown and developed in ways that no one could have imagined just a few years ago. Everything that we love about free flight has evolved from the same roots, yet now we have the opportunity to engage in it through so many different avenues. ‘Inspired’ brings us into the lives of a few pilots – some you know, some you don’t – who have immersed themselves in the various forms of flight, personally and professionally. We visit each pilot in their home environment where they share with us their local playground, and the source of their inspiration. We vol-biv into the wild and roadless California Sierra under a 5000m cloudbase. We discover the origins of a world record holder’s life altering decision to make paragliding her sole focus. Speeding through the southern Alps provides a meditative release for one professional flier and another is intentionally homeless, circling the globe year after year. In the end we see that ‘paragliding’ is now so multi-faceted that one lifetime is barely enough to absorb all of the experiences it has to offer.
Though the ways in which these pilots express their dedication is different, their underlying passion …read more

Seiko’s Husband Flies, Too!

For many years our ninja pilot, Seiko Fukuoka, has been taking free flight to a new level. What you might not know about Seiko is that she is part of a partnership with someone who is not only a great pilot, but also a source of great support and encouragement for planet Earth’s most accomplished female pilot. Seiko’s other half, and her life partner, so to speak, is a pioneer in French paragliding: Pierre Naville.

During their last visit to Australia, Pierre, as usual, was taking care of ground details to ensure that everything went well and Seiko had the best chance of breaking her own records. After a few days down under, it was Pierre’s turn to relax and get towed first. This story finished 440 km later.

Pierre shares his experience:

“On thursday we drove to Wilkannia, a small aboriginal village in the outback with a catchy slogan “The Midlle of Nowhere but The Center of Everywhere”, well now I knew what to report where I landed: I am in the middle of the center of…

We took off from a dirt road with the help of the towing, once I got in the air I was lucky enough to climb with …read more
