The Paragliding World Cup in Linzhou, China will take place from the 8th to the 15th of June 2019
The Taihang Canyon Scenic Area, as the name suggests, is one of the most stunning places to fly with its Grand Canyon style topography of red rock gorges and potential for both mountain and flat land tasks.
The first Paragliding World Cup to take place in China was in Linzhou in 1997. The next event was in 2010 with pollution levels making it impossible to see the valley floor from launch, many pilots described the experience as like flying inside a ping-pong ball.
For those who had taken part in 2010, the Linzhou they then discovered at the Pre World Cup in 2018 was unrecognizable. The smog was gone, the carved canyons covered in vivid green vegetation were breath taking. Even the noodles were delicious.
Pilots from 28 different countries will be coming to Linzhou from as far afield as Chile, India, Brazil, Nepal, New Zealand and even Belarus to compete in the World Cup. There will also be a lot of new faces. For 32 pilots, this will be their first World Cup.
The World Cup now has 19 partners, each with a team, …read more

The first stop of the 2019 PWC in Coeur de Savoie, France, came to an end on Saturday after six valid tasks. Nineteen out of the top 20 overall flew the Enzo 3.
It was a week of technical flying and challenging conditions that kept improving throughout the event. The last and longest task of the competition saw stunning conditions and amazing views from the Montlambert Launch. A 123 Km route that took the pilots on a tour of the Bauges and down past Allevard to the south.
The overall win went to Ozone Team pilot and local guru, Charles Cazaux. In second place was Stephan Morgenthaler from Switzerland followed by the Slovenian pilot Tilen Ceglar in third. Ozone R&D team pilots, Russel Ogden and Honorin Hamard finished fourth and fifth respectively.
In the women’s category, it was Ozone team pilot Meryl Delferriere, from France, who took the win followed by our own Seiko Fukuoka Naville (FRA) who is back to the competitions. In third place was Keiko Hiraki from Japan .
The team winner was the OZONE Team.

The Coeur de Savoie Paragliding World Cup will take place from the 25th of May until the 1st of June 2019.
The Coeur de Savoie venue brings together some of best and most well known flying venues in all of France. Nearby Annecy and St Hilaire are legendary in the free flying world. The mountains of the Bauges, the Belledonne and the Chartreuse are full of rocky ridges and thermal churning spines, perfect for paragliding.
The pilots flying in this competition have a phenomenal amount of knowledge of how this area works, quite simply because it’s one of their favourite playgrounds. Some of the pilots in this competition were flying here before the others were even born, however the young blood should not be underestimated. Young or old, male or female, nothing is certain about who will win Coeur de Savoie 2019!
All of the top ten from the 2014 Coeur de Savoie will be competing once again. Eight out of the top ten from 2017 and the top 3 ladies will battle it out once more. Nine out of the top ten, including the first lady, from the recent Super Final in Baixo Guandu are taking part.
Eighteen pilots taking part have already …read more
