CHELAN US OPEN 2019

The final event of the US Paragliding Nationals, celebrated in Chelan, has come to a close.

Ozone Team pilot, Nick Greece reports:

“Chelan, Washington is one of the top flatland paragliding competition arenas in the World! This year the US National Championship’s final leg was held in this part of Washington where pilots get to fly through beautiful mountains, across incredible flatlands with rivers and hanging lakes cutting the wheat filled landscapes where a glacial explosion carved a swath from Canada through Washington and Oregon million of years ago. Passing over historic cities like Coulee City, which houses one of America’s greatest engineering achievements of the 1930’s, Grand Coulee Dam. Grand Coulee Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Columbia River in the U.S. state of Washington, built to produce hydroelectric power and provide irrigation water.

Racing paragliders is similar to sailboat racing. In this competition 150 competitors launch in an hour-long window and get into position for the start. We then race for 2 to 5 hours across wide expanses ranging from 40 to 100 mile-long courses averaging speeds of 20-40 mph per day. The first person to come in gets 1000 points and one point for every second behind …read more

The future of filming continues!

Filming airsports has been always a challenge. Framing in an all moving enviroment is really the most challenging thing for filmmakers. To create new perspektives even more! New cameratechnique is now pushing the limits further again.

Ilko Ilev went out to Norway for a project together with Veso Ovcharov to get some sick new images we’ve never seen before.
Normally just possible with a Cineflex Helicopter – the new racedrones make followcams and 3rd-Person-View even mor special! Or have you ever seen a Camera rolling the same axis like the Infinite Tumble?

The 14th Ozone Chabre Open has come to a close, with a great week of “warm weather” flying. Five tasks were scored, although a few were stopped early because of storms. Like every year, there were many “goal virgins”, pilots who had not yet made goal in a comp, and did at Chabre. Prizes abounded! All of the winners received an Ozone rucksack full of accessories, and the 2019 prize draw winner was Russell WIllings, who now gets a free Ozone wing! Alex and Marie win French Championships 2019

2019 French Paramotor Championships were held in ULM Airfield Couhe-Verac from 29 June till 6th July. There were total 35 pilots competing in class PF1 (solo foot launch), 9 light single trikes and 4 double trikes. All pilots in all categories flew 13 tasks in total.

Alex Mateos reports: “First of all, I am very happy with the performance of my equipment. Despite of tough condition and hot weather my engine was working really well. I am very impressed by speed and stability of my Viper 4 sometimes we were flying in a really strong wind, reaching speed up to 100 km/h! I started this competition a bit distracted, because I lost podium in French Championships in 2011 on the same airfield, it was the moment, when I first met Marie and fall in love” .

Marie says: “I am very happy with my final results. I think I started this competition really focused not to make any mistake, even small, possibly demanding too much of myself. But during competition, I manage to relax a little bit and really enjoy 2nd part of the competition when I won pure eco task. I won 3 tasks.”
