Antoine Girard and Martin Beaujouan have arrived in Iquique. Their latest report shows the level of commitment that this South American mission has required:
“We just arrived in Iquique, the flying Mecca of Chile. We crossed 750km of rocky dunes, the first time it has been crossed unsupported. In total now we have completed 1500km of vol-bov on this route. This section was much harder than expected, the strong southerly wind was incapacitating. Flying backward was common every day. Thermal flying in these conditions pushed our nerves and piloting abilities to the limit. The local pilots are waiting for “flyable” conditions to use the XC wings. We are hoping for easier conditions!
We still have 200km to Arica before heading back to the big mountains of Peru. For this part we need a safety boat on the ocean, and the perfect wind, because there is no landing place except the water…”

Ozone have released the Rush 5, high-EN B intermediate paraglider
The post Ozone release the Rush 5 appeared first on Cross Country Magazine – In the Core since 1988.
The Rush 5 is a top of class Sport-Performance-Intermediate wing that has been developed with the same technology used in our performance wings including the Enzo 3 and Zeno in addition to several new innovative features. An extensive period of performance glide testing allowed us to evaluate the R5 against class-leading wings from other manufacturers. The results have proven significant gains, especially in accelerated glide performance.
Like our performance and competition wings, the R5 excels in active air and challenging conditions. Hundreds of hours test flying in real air and turbulent conditions have gone into the development, ensuring that it satisfies our own demanding requirements along with the True Performance design goals – real, usable performance in turbulent air throughout the speed range.
A solid, high-performance wing is not the whole story; fun is the reason we fly. The R&D team concentrated on the handling and spent a lot of time optimising feedback and turn coordination.
Read more info on the Rush 5 product page: Rush 5 Product Page.
The Rush 5 MS and ML sizes are ready to order from your local OZONE distributor , four more sizes coming soon! stay tuned.

The first stop of the 2018 PWC in Bright, Australia, wrapped up after four very imaginative tasks, good organization and excellent task setting.
The overall winner was OZONE R&D Team pilot, Honorin Hamard (FRA) followed by Maxime Bellemin (FRA) in second, and Cody Mittanck (USA) in third. In the women’s category, Méryl Delferriere (FRA) got the first place followed by Midori Nakanome (JPN) and Wooyoung Jang (KOR) respectively.
The team winner was The OZONE Team. Nine out of the top ten pilots flew Enzo 3s.
OZONE Team Pilot, Cody Mittanck takes us for a ride into the land down under with his unique report:
“Australia is a place of extremes and contradictions. It’s massive, yet there’s barely any people here. It’s soil is old and exhausted, it’s mountains worn down and geological inert, yet it’s teeming with a diversity of life found no where else on the planet (most of those species are highly poisonous by the way). In the comp briefing they told us in a sardonic tone “if you are bitten by a snake you will likely die, but don’t panic that will only make it worse.” I never saw any snakes but I did …read more
